Introducing Our New Video: “it’s a small world”!
We’re proud to announce the first (well, actually second!) Magical Moments video from Celebrations! “it’s a small world” has always been on of my favorite attractions (and indeed, we just talked about it in one of our recent posts as one of the great “underrated attractions” at the Magic Kingdom). We thought we’d have some fun and take you an a video tour of “it’s a small world,” but first here are some more fun-filled facts to enjoy before we drift away on the happiest cruise that ever sailed…
(By the way, we mentioned this was our second video, our first video – featuring the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover – will be featured in next week’s post. If you want a sneak peek though, you can see it in the premier issue of our NEW (and FREE!) digital magazine, WDW Monthly. Click here to check it out!)
it’s a small world…world….world…world…
The theme song is sung in the attraction in five different languages. Incidentally, the word “world” is used 14 times through the course of song. The only room in which the song is not sung in is the fifth room.
The Happiest Cruise That Ever Sailed Around the World
The attraction takes you through seven different rooms. The first room takes you to Europe, where you’ll find the children of Sweden, France, England, Scotland, Ireland, Holland, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Switzerland. You then travel into the second room, which starts in the Middle East and then sails over to Asia for stops in China, Russia, India, and Japan. You then make your way into the third room, which takes you on a journey to the continent of Africa, starting with Egypt. The fourth room begins in chilly Antarctica, and then quickly whisks you over to South America before finishing up in North America with a stop in Mexico. The adventure continues as you head into the fifth room, which starts in Hawaii for a trip through the Pacific Islands. The room then concludes with a visit to Australia. The sixth room is the Grand Finale, and it includes singing and dancing children from most of the nations that have been represented in the previous five rooms. The seventh and final room wraps up the attraction with goodbye greetings, which are written in many different languages.
Water Water Everywhere
The waterway that you sail upon is known as the Seven Seaways, and contains more than 500,000 gallons of water in its 1,085-foot-long canal.
Where Are We?
At one point you could see the word “Mexico” on the bottom of a pot in the Mexico portion of the attraction. Though it has since disappeared, for years this tiny detail held the distinction of being the only country represented by name in the entire attraction.
And now, without any further ado, here is our new video, Celebrations Magical Moments, “it’s a small world.” Enjoy!!
Great video and some fun information. It’s (it’s) A Small World” has always been a favorite ride for me. My daughter loved this ride when we took her to DW as a 4 year old. Such fond memories of this little girl sitting in my lap and gazing at all the dolls. We’ve gone back every year since. “It’s a Small World” was and still is my daughter’s favorite ride. She’s an adult now and got married 3 years ago. At her wedding. our father/daughter dance was to the music of “It’s a Small World.” We had a blast doing it and our guests loved it. Now, she has a little girl of her own. She’s looking forward to taking her daughter to “It’s a Small World” to experience the same feeling I had.
What a great story! Yes, that family connection is the best part…my father keeps a tiny “small world” music box on him at all times (just a button really), and whenever he’s down he just gives it a tap and is well!
I heard that the little girl hanging from the rope underneath the Eiffel Tower was supposed to represent Mary Blair!
Thanks Kathy! That is sooo cool, I’m going to look for “her” next time I visit!!
