Disney Reveals Exciting Details for Its New Villains Show and Nighttime Parade!

The Villains are coming!!!! One of the most exciting announcements revealed at last year’s D23 gathering was the news that a new Villains Land would be arriving at the Magic Kingdom. But that won’t be the only place where we’ll be to find our favorite Disney baddies. A new show, “Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After,” is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios this Summer. Disney recently shared an update for the upcoming show, as well as some news on other entertainment coming to the parks.

First up we have the Villains! The all new show, “Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After,” will star all your favorite Disney Villains. The premise goes like this:

“If you asked them, our villains would probably try to convince you that they’ve been treated pretty unfairly over the years. In this show, the Magic Mirror has summoned us to hear them out. Never ones to let a dramatic performance pass them by, fiendish foes Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent will break through the glass and take the stage to prove once and for all why they are the most misunderstood. In the end, it will be on you to make the final call in a delightfully wicked finale filled with dozens of the most infamous evildoers awaiting your decision from within the Mirror’s realm.”

The show will be a blend of cutting-edge stage design, spectacular effects, and catchy live musical numbers that will invite everyone to celebrate the villains we love to hate. The show is already two years in the making, and will have something for everyone: drama, music, and yes, even laughs. The show is slated to open this Summer, when it will be joined by “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” – a new spectacular that will see the return of Ariel and friends to the Studios.

But wait, there’s even more entertainment magic on the way! An all-new nighttime parade, “Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away,” is coming to the Magic Kingdom. The parade can be summed up as “a nod to the past with our eyes firmly set on the future.”

The creative team putting the show together has drawn inspiration from classic Disney films, but also from the Magic Kingdom’s rich history of nighttime parades (Disney promises you’ll find more than a few Easter eggs in the new parade!).

The design team even looked to the legendary Mary Blair for inspiration. This will be most evident in the parade’s recently revealed princess unit, which pays homage to Blair’s original concept artwork for the film Cinderella (above). The dazzling float will be anchored by a gleaming fountain of light that overflows to illuminate a cosmic ballroom. But that’s just the beginning. The Princess Float is just one piece of the constellation of classic and contemporary stories that make up this new parade. You’ll also see favorite moments from Moana, Peter Pan, Frozen, Encanto and more unfold on a bed of starlight as the cavalcade makes its way down Main Street, U.S.A.

But as we all know, the floats are just one piece of the magic of any Disney parade. Dazzling costumes are always on full display, and members of the Disney Live Entertainment Costuming team have been hard at work designing a whole fleet of glimmering garments for “Disney Starlight.” Using a blend of innovative lighting techniques and whimsical custom-fabrics, the team is constructing each look to be “kissed by starlight.”

You can just imagine costumes like this swirling down the parade route, with the layers of shimmering fabric picking up the glow of the surrounding floats, each light twinkling in perfect synchronization with the music. This Summer promises to be a Summer of breathtaking magic, and there will surely be more details to follow as we get ready to “Dream the Night Away” in 2025!
