Muppets and Monsters on the Move at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Ever since we heard the blockbuster announcements that came out at this year’s D23 event in Anaheim, Guests everywhere have been anxious to hear more! Disney just released some new concept art and some new details, particularly about some changes coming to Sunset Boulevard.

As many people guessed, Mike and Sulley will setting up their new home in the south side of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Here, humans will be able to enter the world of Monsters, Inc., which will feature the coaster we’ve all dreamed of – a suspended ride recreating the door vault scene! In addition, the new area will be home to new dining and shopping venues, as well as a whole new theater show.

So what does that mean for the residents of the Muppet*Vision theater? To make way for the monsters, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and all of their friends will be moving over to Sunset Boulevard! Don’t worry, they won’t be taking over the Tower of Terror. But they will be taking over the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, which is getting ready of a BIG makeover. Yep, that’s right! The Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival!

This will be the first Disney attraction to ever feature The Muppets (not counting mayhem-filled stage shows of course!). Their zany energy will be a perfect fit for one of Walt Disney World’s wildest coasters, and there will be plenty of laughs and screams along the way. But that’s not all! The rethemed attraction will bring in a batch of new tunes for you to rock out to as you race through this madcap adventure. And of course you’ll find plenty of new Muppets-themed merchandise on Sunset Boulevard!

Fans of Aerosmith don’t despair, you still have plenty of time to enjoy classic tunes like “Sweet Emotion” as you race along in your super-stretch limo on the way to the Forum. Muppet fans can also get one last helping of wackiness at Muppet*Vision 3D before their final curtain call.

There’s plenty of excitement on the way at Walt Disney World, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and we’ll bring you all the latest details as they come out. In the meantime, we’re going to watch Monsters, Inc. again so we can get ready for our adventures in the door factory….hang on tight!
